Atlas 29 spline input (Dodge & GM)

GM & DODGE 29 SPLINE:

Dodge NV4500: The 29 spline Atlas was designed to fit the 4WD Dodge heavy-duty NV4500 transmission and the 2001 & newer gas version NV4500 transmissions. When coupling an Atlas to this transmission, the stock Dodge 4WD tailhousing can be retained.

When using an Atlas left hand drop transfer case, the stock Dodge tailhousing requires the removal of the stock transfer case shifter bosses. The removal of these two bosses provide the necessary Atlas shifter clearance. NOTE: The seal in this stock tailhousing must also be removed because it will interfere with the Atlas input.

GM Transmissions: GM switched the spline count on some of their transmissions to the 29 spline output. The splines on these transmissions were the same as what Dodge had used on the NV4500 transmission. So the 29 spline input for the Atlas will work with all of these GM and Dodge transmission equipped with a 29 spline output shaft.

ZF S6-650: The ZF manual 6 speed is a 29 spline transmission when coupled to the Duramax and the 8.1L. This transmission can be directly mounted to the Atlas transfer case. The Atlas must be equipped with a "Chevy" case configuration and will bolt directly to the stock transmission 4WD adapter. The VSS tailhousing option would provide the GM computer the speedometer signal for this application.

Allison 4WD: These 5 and 6 speed automatics are also a 29 spline transmission when coupled to the same Duramax and the 8.1L. The Atlas must be equipped with a "Chevy" case configuration. This transmission must have the correct VSS input and output signals to shift properly. The Atlas ratio and VSS tailhousing should be researched before using this transmission. Adapter for the Allison P/N 50-9420, this kit uses a spud shaft so the Atlas will need to be built with a 31 spline input.

6L90 4WD: This 6 speed automatic is also a 29 spline transmission. This transmission can be used with our 50-9600 kit. The VSS tailhousing option would provide the GM computer the speedometer signal for this application.

Dodge & GM Inputs: Since all of these transmissions are used in larger vehicle applications, we have had requests for upgrade options on the Atlas. One limited upgrade offered for these transmissions is the heavy-duty Atlas input (300M).

This was developed for some applications that had an increase in horsepower and needed extra strength. The heavy duty input is not needed for all applications, but it's available if you feel you'll need it.

29 Spline Input For:

Atlas 2 Left & Right Drop: A29 .125" Trans Shaft Stick out Length

Atlas 2 H.D. Left & Right Drop: A29HD .125" Trans Shaft Stick out Length

Atlas 4 Speed: A4-29L (left drop) A4-29R (right drop)  Input accepts .500" Trans Shaft Stick out Length

Stick out length is the length that the shaft protrudes from the rear of the transmission with the adapter installed. The measurement is the length that the Atlas will accept.
