Advance Adapter
The Ford AOD adapter to the BorgWarner 1350/1354 transfer case is 9.00" in length. And the overall length of the transmission case and adapter is 29.50". Adapter material is 356 T-6 heat treated aluminum alloy and the adapter has a provision for a transmission mount. Our adapter kit includes an adapter housing, new AOD output shaft, fastening hardware, and adapter instructions.
Transfer Case
This adapter assembly fits the Ford BorgWarner 1350 series transfer case found in the Bronco II, Ranger & Explorer trucks. The transfer case has a 25 spline female input sleeve. This transfer case has been manufactured in both a manual shift and electric shift.
Transmission
This adapter kit is designed for exclusive use with the second generation Ford AOD automatic transmission. This 4 speed, overdrive transmission was introduced during the 1988-91 model years. It is very important that the new main shaft furnished is compared to the original main shaft being replaced.
Options
The AODE (4R70W) 4 speed automatic transmission was used starting in 1991 & later. The adapter housing will fit the AODE, however, the output shaft is different in reference to the oiling. Our kits for the AODE will also require the shaft oil hole plug kit P/N 716057
