AOD 83-87 X BRONCO II (A4LD)

Advance Adapter

The Ford AOD adapter to the BorgWarner 1350/1354 transfer case is 9.00" in length. And the overall length of the transmission case and adapter is 29.50". Adapter material is 356 T-6 heat treated aluminum alloy and the adapter has a provision for a transmission mount. Our adapter kit includes an adapter housing, new AOD output shaft, fastening hardware, and adapter instructions.

Transfer Case

This adapter assembly fits the Ford BorgWarner 1350/1354 series transfer case found in the Bronco II, Ranger & Explorer trucks. The transfer case has a 25 spline female input sleeve. This transfer case has been manufactured in both a manual shift and electric shift.

Transmission

This adapter kit is designed for exclusive use with the first generation Ford AOD automatic transmission. This 4 speed, overdrive transmission was first introduced during the 1983-87 model years. It is very important that the new main shaft furnished is compared to the original main shaft being replaced. In 1988, Ford changed the oiling system of the AOD that required a different output shaft.
