390 Ford, NV4500, 11" clutch

We built a 1947 Ford step side and put a 390 big block (same tranny bolt pattern on the bell housing as the 302) and used a 4speed in it, but it didn’t have much of a top speed which made it uncomfortable on the high way. The #712551 adapter plate kit was just what we needed. Having overdrive alone made this kit well worth the price, and as simple and easy as it went together I would recommend it to whoever is building an older ford that wants a little more on the top speed and a little less fuel consumption. I would also recommend the purchase of #383735 Centerforce 11" Diameter1-1/8 10 Spline Clutch Disc. It fit, seemed well priced and good quality for this conversion.

#712551

I purchased 2 of this part #,1st one went onto my 82 Bronco with the 300 cid inline 6 & 99 Dodge NV4500. Converted from mech. clutch to hydraulic using newer (87) Ford parts-adapter fit perfectly & brought it all together! The 2nd one is for a future project using this adapter behind a 390 cid V-8,did a test fit & it will work fine.
